Twelfth Night Twelfth Night is a comedy of light and shade. Its characters are not unreservedly happy and the events are not unreservedly humorous. Discuss. As a comedy, Twelfth Night is obviously intending to not only entertain its audience but also point out problems in society. It is imperative to entire merit of the play not to be realistic but to allow for empathy. Therefor to have a comedy of complete lightheartedness there would be no balance and hence no avenue for audience interaction. Malvolio through his vanity is easily fooled into thinking it is he who she loves although she is most otherwise, O, you are sick of self love, Malvolio, and taste with a distemperd appetite. Another social theme that is not unreservedly humorous dealt with in Twelfth Night is the idea of self-awareness. Self-awareness is based around being well balanced rather than excessive, therefor to convey this idea neither the characters nor the plot can be completely, inadvertently happy. Self-awareness is developed by both Olivia and Orsino; they were both creatures of lavishness. Orsino plunged deeply into his unrequited almost courtly love for Olivia his verbose, dramatic language demonstrates this, If music be the food of love, play on; / Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, / The appetite may sicken and die. This passionate plea and later exchanges demonstrate Orsinos developing character. Initially he is more in love with the idea of love. We as the audience and survey of this activity may find his self-absorption laughable but as he develops into a well-rounded character, it is evident why Shakespeare portrayed him in this way. Qualitative and Quantitative Research - Validity and Reliability

Question: Validity and reliability are primarily quantitative research concepts. Morse, Barrett, Mayan, Olson, and Spiers (2002) argue that their exclusion from qualitative research design undermines the credibility and rigor of qualitative research conclusions. Are they correct in this assertion? Why or why not? Answer: Introduction: The use of validity and reliability are common in quantitative research and recently it is also considered in the qualitative research scenario. Validity and reliability is considered to be essential in quantitative research because of its naturalistic approach. This article discusses the use of validity and reliability in the qualitative research paradigm. In this topic, the first discussion is what about Morse, Barrett, Mayan, Olson, and Spiers have to say about validity and reliability as essential quantitative concepts and then a new conclusion will be provided (Silverman, 2004). According to the works of Morse, Barrett, Mayan, Olson, and Spiers a great deal of attention is given to validity and reliability in all research methods. A number of famous qualitative researchers have said that validity and reliability were terms which are not pertinent to qualitative enquiry but are pertaining to the quantitative paradigm. In the 1980s, Lincoln and Guba found a substitution for the terms validity and reliability and i.e. trustworthiness containing four aspects of conformability, transferability, credibility and dependability (Research Rundowns, 2009). Validity and Reliability: In statistics and science, Validity is the extent to which a conclusion and a concept or measurement corresponds accurately to the real world and is well-founded. The word valid is derived from the Latin word validus meaning strong. The validity of a measurement tool is considered to be the degree to which the tool measures what it actually claims to measure. Reliability on the other hand, means the ability of a system to perform its functions under stated conditions within a specific time period. Reliability and validity in qualitative research Sarantakos has asserted that validity is a methodological element not only of qualitative but also of quantitative research. Goets and Lecompte have mentioned two forms of validity in qualitative research i.e. internal validity and external validity. To quote Sarantakos, The types of measurement of the degree of reliability and the definitions of reliability should be considered when the quality of reliability in quantitative and qualitative research contexts is evaluated. Conclusion: In this essay, an attempt has been made to prove that qualitative research can be properly validated. Lets Cheers to This by Sleeping with Sirens free essay sample

It’s my honor to provide this recommendation for Chelsea, with whom I co-taught Latin to kindergarten students for the past three years. There’s no need to explain the reason for your letter with a sentence like, â€Å"Joe asked me to write a recommendation letter for his application to the position of Dive Instructor.† The letter speaks for itself. Start out strong with a positive statement of support. Next, you should explain who you are and why you’re qualified to recommend the candidate. Were you her manager? Coworker? Collaborate on a project? Worked side by side in the same office space every day for three years? Qualify the nature of your relationship to show why your opinion holds weight. Here are a few examples for the second sentence of your introductory paragraph. I’ve gotten to know Joe well over the past three years both as an employee of my diving school and a close personal friend. As Chelsea’s co-teacher at Caesar’s After-School Republic, I planned lessons and taught classes with her Monday through Friday. As Alexandra’s Direct Manager for the past fiveyears, I spoke with her on a daily basis about the best ways to defend ourselves against the Galactic Empire. You may also give a brief description of the candidate, perhaps starting with a preview of the skills or qualities you plan to highlight in your letter. The following are a few examples of the kind of introductory evaluative statements you could make in the beginning of your letter: Joe is a skilled diver, a charismatic teacher, and the kind of level-headed person you’d want to have around in an emergency. How can you make them as tasty and substantial as possible? Paragraphs 1, 2, and (maybe) 3: Your Main Points Once you’ve written your introduction, you’ve arrived at the meat of your letter (or, if you’re a vegetarian, at the grilled eggplant layer of your letter). Most letters contain two to three body paragraphs of fourto sixsentences each. You might choose to write two in-depth paragraphs or three that are a little shorter. Joe showed patience and understanding, and ultimately, the student completed the dive. After the group came back in, she raved about Joe and the way he helped her conquer her fear. With his compassionate approach, Joe has empowered dozens of students to overcome their nerves and achieve their diving goals. Chelsea’s creativity and passion for the Latin language shinethrough in her approach to teaching. She brings the language to life with skits, costumes, posters, and visuals across every wall and tabletop. Last week, the students performed a skit for their parents about Pandora’s Box. Pandora, Prometheus, and Vulcan all made appearances in the excited cast. Chelsea’s classroom is a colorful ode to the ancient world where interactiveactivities and visual cues reinforce students’ language learning at every turn. Beyond improving our existing equipment, Alexandra also develops and tests new theoretical designs. Most recently, she developed a prototype for a starship engine that could run for 1.5 times longer than our current model before needing additional charge. This exciting project is just one example of Alexandra’s innovative and forward-thinking ideas. Between her creativity and engineering expertise, she has the potential to transform our fleet and shape the future of Alliance technology. Coming up with specific anecdotes can be tricky. If you're having trouble coming up with some, you might first consider the qualities you want to highlight.
